Amazon RDS has received new updates to both its look and performance. You may check them out below.

  • Amazon RDS Console – the console is given an updated new look where users can see all RDS resources, create a new database, look at documentation, and more in a single place.
  • RDS Recommendations – this feature will check your usage of RDS and provide best practices to help improve your experience, performance, and security.
  • Performance Insights – provides a look into MySQL to see which queries consume the most time and resources, and why. You can view these bottlenecks over a time frame of an hour, a day, a week, or a month.
  • M5 Instances – these instances are now available for RDS using MySQL or MariaDB. A step up from the M4 instances, they offer up to 10 Gbps of dedicated network bandwidth for database storage.
  • MySQL 8 — MySQL 8 is now available for use in Amazon RDS, offering better InnoDB performance, JSON improvements, better GIS supports, common table expressions, window functions, atomic DDLs and more.
  • Maria DB 10.3 – Also available for Amazon RDS, this includes new temporal data processing, improved Oracle compatibility, invisible columns, performance enhancements, and more.

All of these features are available now at Amazon RDS.
